The National Automotive Finance (NAF) Association gathered more than 50 auto finance professionals this week in Irving, Texas, for its Compliance Champions Workshop. Attendees engaged in a comprehensive agenda designed to foster learning, share insights, and enable open discussions. The workshop featured a lineup of distinguished speakers, including a team of attorneys from the Hudson Cook, LLP law firm, and a keynote address by Malini Mithal, Associate Director, Division of Financial Services, at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
The event was facilitated by esteemed Hudson Cook attorneys Patty Covington and Eric Johnson, who worked with NAF Association leadership to develop sessions on key topics such as state and federal enforcement and litigation updates, vendor management, servicing and collections, and examination preparation.
“Compliance is a key to the success of an auto finance company, and NAF is again at the forefront supporting the industry,” said Patty Covington. “This week, it held an all-day conference on compliance with topics ranging from insights from CFPB Supervisory Highlights to how to prepare for a state and/or CFPB exam. NAF was pleased to offer its members and nonmembers alike this opportunity.”
As the workshop concluded, attendees participated in an action planning and implementation session focused on applying their key takeaways. This wrap-up session equipped participants with practical strategies for implementing what they learned within their organizations, helping ensure that the workshop’s insights lead to actionable outcomes.
As part of its unwavering commitment to industry compliance, the NAF Association offers a range of educational programs, including the Compliance Professional Certification and Recertification, Compliance Roundtable Program, Front Line Staff Certificates, webinars, and a dedicated compliance track at its Annual Conference. These resources support professionals, teams, and organizations in upholding high compliance standards year-round, with the Compliance Champions Workshop now a valued addition to the education calendar.
The NAF Association would like to extend a special thank you to event sponsors, FNI Incorporated, Allied Solutions, Jericho Information Technology and American Recovery Association (ARA) for their generous support, which helped make the Compliance Champions Workshop a success.
In addition to a strong focus on compliance, NAF Association members enjoy valuable benefits in networking and professional development through the NAF Networks. Comprised of four specialty groups — Leadership, Operations, Risk, and Technology — these networks offer members the opportunity to connect with peers on critical industry topics.
“At the NAF Association, we believe that building a strong community is integral to maintaining high compliance standards across the industry,” said Jennifer Martin, NAF Association Executive Director. “Our programs not only provide essential tools and resources for staying ahead of regulatory requirements but also foster a network of professionals who support each other in meeting challenges and advancing best practices. This commitment to both compliance and community-building empowers our members to thrive in an increasingly complex landscape.”
